General Information
HCSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the Tibetan and Himalayan region. We serve diaspora communities through education, arts, mindfulness practices, and community engagement programs.
HCSC was founded by Lama Tsewang Rinpoche under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and His Holiness the 17th Karmapa. The organization was established to bridge traditional Himalayan wisdom with the evolving needs of diaspora communities in New York and beyond.
Our main office and cultural center is located in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York. We also serve community members remotely and partner with organizations across the United States.
Programs & Participation
We offer four main programs: Weekend Tibetan Language Classes (ages 6-12), Danang Summer Cultural Camp, Youth Empowerment Program (for teen leaders), and Living Traditions (music, dance, and cultural arts). All programs are designed to connect participants with Himalayan heritage through experiential learning.
Our programs are open to all children and youth, regardless of cultural background or prior experience. We welcome both community members and those interested in learning about Himalayan culture. Financial assistance is available for families who need it.
Registration information is available on each program's page. For specific details about dates, times, and enrollment, please contact Gen Sonam Yangdon la at info@hcsc.org or call 929-426-8804.
Our library houses one of the few complete Derge Parkhang (Buddhist canon) collections in New York City, available in Tibetan, English, and Chinese. It's a welcoming space for study, reflection, and dialogue, open to students, researchers, and community members.
